I’ve spoke on this before but I am not big on deep conditioning. Why? My hair really doesn’t crave it. I normally pre-poo my hair, wash with a gentle shampoo, condition and detangle then moisturize, style and seal. Since coloring my hair the porosity has increased some and I have seen more benefits from deep conditioning. I reviewed other products in the Jessicurl line and intentionally skipped the deep conditioning treatment, but I have since pulled out my sample pack to give it a try.
I cleansed my hair then tried a new conditioner that had absolutely no slip -boo. I squeezed out every drop of the 1 ounce package and applied to my hair. The product is very thick and smelled of cocoa butter (this was the unscented version) which I found enjoyable. My hair quickly drank up this product, in some areas it looked as though I had not applied any conditioner at all, thirst much? I added a few fingerfuls of Jessicurl Too Shea conditioner to those areas. I covered my hair with a cap, sat for 20 minutes then rinsed. The result was soft, bouncy hair.
So I know you are wondering: How does the Deep Conditioning Treatment compare the Too Shea Conditioner? IMO, Too Shea is a souped-up rinse out conditioner that can moonlight as a deep conditioner. Too Shea has a drinkable yogurt consistency and provides great slip. Deep Conditioning Treatment is a grown woman’s deep conditioner. It is thick like chocolate mousse with okay slip. DCT belongs in a jar, while TS belongs in a bottle. I like Too Shea, but I love the Deep Conditioning Treatment!
For me, each 8 oz jar holds 4-5 applications which is just under $4 per treatment. The shipping from Cali is a little pricey, however this product is available on naturally and nounou’s boutique so keep an eye out for shipping offers on those sites. I will be grabbing a few jars at the next hair show along with a hug from my girl Jess. Final thoughts on DCT are:It’s a keeper!
