Expanding the topics of my blog today from natural hair to natural household goods. I have previously talked about skincare products but laundry care products can be just as important for those with sensitive skin like my daughter, or for those of us who want to be more conscience of what exactly we are using. The products I am reviewing today I received from one of my favorite subscription services is Natural Review Sample Box. The reason I love this box so much is because I am introduced to new products and brands monthly and I am able to try them out before committing to a purchase.
Eucalyptus & Spearmint Laundry Soap
3 oz sample for $2.50
ing: washing soda, borax, handmade cold process soap.
I received this laundry soap in the January Natural Review Sample Box. Although it is a sample size I was able to get 3 uses out of this product. Directions are simple add 2 Tablespoons to regular laundry load. I received the Eucalyptus and Spearmint scented soap which was very fresh smelling. What is most important is that it worked well to actually clean my laundry. I used the product on a load of towels, linens and whites. All were just as clean as compared to my regular commercial brand.
24 pouches for $7
Available Whole Foods, Earth Fare, VitaCost.com and others.
ing: sodium percarbonate, soda ash
I received this product in the April Natural Review Sample Box. I received two samples of this product which says it can be used as a stain fighter for clothes, carpet stain remover, and as a natural household cleaner. I used my samples on a small load of whites and also on my white linens. Both times my laundry came out just as clean when compared to commercial bleach product. The product is fragrance free so there was no added scent. I only used my samples in the laundry but I wish I would have used one as a carpet cleaner to test its effectiveness.
So why would anyone care to use a more natural laundry products? Well the scary fact is that we do not know what is in most laundry soaps. Yes, that is right go look on the label of your laundry soap, I will wait. See what I’m talking about? No idea what you are using to wash your clothes that go on your skin so when you experience dryness, rash or irritation what is it attributed to? Well you have no idea. Secondly, I care about the environment and the ingredients used to clean your clothes are carted off to a water treatment plant which is, treated and then dumped back into natural sources. I feel better knowing what is going back into the environment and that it is having a low impact. These products are biodegradable meaning they will breakdown naturally and you are not adding any adverse chemicals to the environment.
