I received a 2 oz free sample of this product from Lollie of Naturally, one of my fav natural hair product boutiques. I have heard a little buzz about these products but had not tried them so I was very excited to see them included in my order. The product has a standard look and feel comparable to most deep conditioners. It has a subtle sweet-floral smell but honestly nothing really stands out about the product.
I applied the conditioner to cleansed hair that I allowed to air dry until it was almost completely dry (It was still moist at the roots but the ends were indeed dry) I wanted to get a feel of what the product would do on its own. The 2 ounces sample was barely enough to distribute through my entire hair but I was able to make it work by scraping every bit from the jar. I applied a plastic cap and let it sit for 10 -15 minutes. After which the product has completely absorbed in my hair. My hair felt soft and moisturized, there was no visible build-up on my hair and I rocked my big fro to church. When I came home my hair was soft but dry, though that is what I expected to happen because this product is not meant to be a styler, I just chose to use it as one.
My final thoughts are this is an okay deep conditioner. There was nothing amazing about it but it did work. I think it had okay slip, the smell was fine, and it did soften my hair. I was surprised that the protein (soy milk, yogurt powder) in the conditioner did not negatively affect my hair — my hair is protein sensitive if you did not know — but it was nice to know I was able to give my hair a shot of protein with no ill effects. Bottom line would I use the product again, sure. Would I purchase it, probably not. There was not enough wow factor for me and I prefer thicker, buttery deep conditioners.
