The holiday season is upon us and Christmas is just days away. Inevitably there is someone on your list who you have yet to purchase a gift. Or even worse those obligatory holiday stragglers like your cousin’s girlfriend or your uncle who rarely comes to family events. You didn’t plan on getting them anything but if they give you a gift you don’t want to show up empty handed. What’s a person to do? Well do what I do and whip up a couple handmade DIY projects that are sure to wow the crowd and make them feel special. If you cook/bake food is always a great item or if you can knit/crochet a nice hat or scarf would be a welcome gift. But for those with modest talents check out these recipes for hair/body items that are quick, easy and well suited for both sexes.
Whipped Shea Butter is a great gift that is perfect for protecting hands and feet or to use on the hair. You can make up a nice sized batch with just a few ingredients including shea butter, oils and add a few drops of scent oil or essential oils. You will need a standard hand mixer and and nice 4 or 8 oz container to store the final product. For a fancy touch add final whipped mixture to a large plastic storage bag. Snip the corner of the bag and pipe in the mixture finishing off with a dollop like you would see on a fancy cupcake.
Scalp or Body Scrub is another great gift. I this recipe is so very customizable. You can add orange zest or lemon zest, fresh mint or fresh coffee grounds. Experiment with different mix-ins and different quantities.
Natural Hair Grease this is another creative gift especially for people who are not into hair or skin care. You can make this thicker more by adding more beeswax or use essential or scent orders to make it smell lovely. More than just hair grease you can also use it all over your body.
Bra-strap headband is a cute accesory for women or girls. If you have those extra straps laying around that come with convertable bra and a glue gun you can make super cute items for only a few dollars.
So here is your DIY last minute gift guide, I hope you find these recipes useful for Christmas, Kwanza, birthdays or any other occasion.
