Coco-Banana Hair Smoothie

As promised I cleaned out my kitchen and made use of some over-ripened bananas. Below is the recipe used which is enough for 2 applications so you can share with a friend, mix in up in a blender and drink or store in the fridge for 1 week.

3 Ripe Bananas (or use banana baby food)

1/2 cup Coconut Water (or Coconut Milk)

1/2 to 3/4 cup Natural Sour Cream (or Yogurt)

1 Tbsp Honey (or Agave Nectar)

Peel bananas and place in a bowl. Mash bananas with fork. Add coconut water and gently stir. Add sour cream or yogurt and stir. Lastly add honey and mix thoroughly. I poured the mixture into a color applicator bottle from the beauty supply store and cut the tip so that the opening was larger.

Wet hair and separate into 4-6 sections.Apply  the mixture first to the roots using the shingle method then spread to the ends. Massage the mixture into my hair and scalp, cover and let sit for 15 minutes.

Rinse hair thoroughly then wash/cowash, condition and detangle.

**I had a run in with banana boogers–small pieces of banana stuck in my hair after co washing. The came out in detangling with the Denman brush. However to avoid this problem you can place the mixture in the blender to get rid of the lumps or substitute banana baby food for whole bananas.
